![]() Well I've been trying to think of soemthing to put up here...but every path I seem to take leads to me sounding irreverant. Like this. This isn't much better. There's a new "service" in the works. I'll leave the details for when it's ready. Or maybe Steve will fill in the details. Either way details will be given. Much like candy. On Halloween. Find yourself with too much time? Surfing the net endlessly? This game has helped me. "Hi I'm Derek and I'm a 'Zuma-holic'..." Tomorrow (1/22) there may be more to say. -Derek
Steve keeps mentioning that he'll have something more to put on the site, but so far it's all been talk. Lazy git. If nothing comes up by Sunday the next comic will be up then...and as I just noticed I've only got next week drawn ahead of time...so work must be done. Well put off for a while, and then done. There's always time to procrastinate first. -Derek
Society leads us to believe it gives a person choices, in truth it is the illusion of choices- which is the subject of another day. And those choices are supposed to position a person in a seat of happiness. The problem is that people dream of life at another station. Also there are those who tend to manipulate the system. All of which boils down to this, unless you pick one thing and stick to it you’re going to be looked at funny. And the most you are encouraged to strive for is one set of options. I’m not trying to preach, though I have the feeling that I am, in fact, preaching. People do well in high school so they can go to a good college and they go to a good college to get a job and they get a job so their kids can do the same damn thing. There is nothing wrong with this provided the persons involved in the cycle (the whole of society) are aware of the situation, willing to continue in a vein given the parameters, and endeavoring to make changes. When even one of the three concepts is missing, destruction ensues. That is why people have mid-life crisis and divorce, etc. This vein of “Keep Left” is representative of the above discussion. Two farmers, both born to the system, both aware of the system, both trying to make changes to better the world- two people who are essentially exactly alike and at the same time polar opposites and mortal enemies. This duality existed in me a number of years ago. And I never really discussed or vented it to anyone until right now. Growing up I met tons of bowler hats, people who were and more than likely still are exactly alike. They strive for nothing more than worldly comforts, reject any new ideas without hearing them, and will never understand what Canterbury Tales and Supertroopers have in common. In that all people have essential similarities, but it is the difference which define us as hero or villain. And we need to celebrate those differences or we won’t have any choices at all. -Steve |
